16,000 cruise passengers visited St. Kitts on 7 ships last week

BASSETERRE,ST. KITTS, JANUARY 2012 (CUOPM) – Nearly 16,000 cruise ship passengers visited St. Kitts last week, according to the St. Christopher and Nevis Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA).

Some 15,905 passengers came aboard seven cruise ships that docked at Port Zante.

On Monday 22nd, the 2,224-passenger Norwegian Dawn arrived with 2,351 passengers and the 2,850-pasengerCelebrity Silhouette with 2,821 passengers.

The 3,840-passenger Explorer of the Seas arrived with 3,162 passengers last Monday while the following day, 3,238passengers were on board the 3,114-passenger Adventure of the Seas.

On Friday, 3,029passengers were onboard the 3,050-passenger Carnival Victory and 927 onboard the 821-passenger Braemar.

The 446-passenger Saga Pearl which docked on Saturday had on board 381 passengers.

The seven ships had a total of 15,905 sun and fun-seeking passengers and a crew of 6,557.

Most of the passengers came ashore and went on sight-seeing tours in Basseterre and island wide via the St. Kitts Scenic Railway, buses or taxis.

Hundreds also headed for sea and sun bathing on the beaches, snorkeling, sailing, horseback riding, golfing, casino gambling and shopping while others took time to surf the internet and make contact with friends and family.
