Adams and Rogers made Federation History at IAAF World Championships

St. Kitts – 12th August 2013 — Antoione Adams and Jason Rogers became the first sprint duo from St. Kitts and Nevis to participate in the Men’s 100m Semi-Final at the 2013 IAAF World Championships. The 2013 National Champion and runner up respectively, earned these honors after qualifying in the Heats on Saturday 10th August 2013.

Adams finished 4th in his heat (10.18s) and advanced to the Semi-Finals based on time while Rogers received an automatic advancement based on his 3rd place finish (10.19s). Their performances in the opening round ranked them 18th and 19th respectively out of fifty-four (54) competitors.

In the Semi-Finals round, Rogers placed 7th in Heat Number two (2) of three (3) with a time of 10.15s while Adams in the 3rd and final heat finished in 6th position with a time of 10.17s. Although they did not advance to the Finals, their Semi-Finals performance ranked them 13th and 16th respectively out of twenty-four (24) participating athletes. They were also two (2) of nine (9) participants from the Caribbean Region to make it to this level.

Team St. Kitts and Nevis’ World Championships Campaign continues on Friday 16th August with the Men’s 200m. Antoine Adams and Lestrod Roland will both be participating in this event.

Delwayne Delaney, Allistar Clarke and Brijesh Lawrence will make their debut to the Moscow Campaign when they join their teammates in defending their 4X100m relay title on Sunday 18th August 2013. At the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, team St. Kitts and Nevis placed 3rd in this event.

Team Leader, Iston Williams and Head Coach Lonzo Wilkerson are the two (2) officials accompanying the team of six (6) athletes.
