Another Athlete from the Federation qualifies for the Olympics

Antoine Adams

ZIZ News…May 15 2012 — Antoine Adams qualified for the London 2012 Olympic Games in the men 200m! This was achieved last evening (Sunday 13th May 2012) at ‘The Last Stand’ meet at the University of the Incamate Word in San Antonio, Texas.

Adams finished 1st in the 200m in a time of 20.65 seconds, which earned him an Olympic ‘B’ qualifying standard. With a wind factor of -3.4 meters per second, many argue that better conditions would have not only earned him an A qualifying standard, but potentially eclipsing the National Record of 20.20 seconds currently held by sprint icon Kim Collins.

In addition to winning the 200m, Adams also won the 100m in 10.42 seconds.

He now joins Kim Collin, Brijesh Lawrence and Tameka Williams as the 4th athlete from St. Kitts and Nevis to qualify for the London Games in an individual event.

Also present at the meet was Tameka Williams who also won the sprint double in a time of 11.43 seconds and 23.27 seconds in the 100m and 200m respectively.
