Another Section of the New Roundabout Now Open
ZIZ News — As part of continuous road upgrades, the Ministry of Public Works on Monday officially opened another section of the new roundabout near the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank.
The upgrade aims to enhance traffic flow in and around Basseterre.
Director of Public Works, Cromwell Williams outlined the advantages of the new roundabout.
“Even though this roundabout is not yet completed, it has already yielded tremendous benefit in reducing congestion, in this area and hence decreasing travel time for many persons,” he stated.
Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr. Earl Asim Martin assures the community that after the project is over, traffic will flow smoothly.
“Upon the completion of this roundabout definitely we will see an improvement in vehicular traffic going into Basseterre, into Bird Rock, into Frigate Bay and also into the airport area.”
Section two of the roundabout is ready for use.
The Traffic Department says as a result there will be adjustments to the traffic flow.
