Appreciation event held in honour of deserving individuals

ZIZ News…Oct 14 2011 – On the 9th of October, 2011, The St. Kitts National Youth Parliament Association held an appreciation tea in honour of a number of well deserving individuals and organisations as part of its anniversary celebrations.

Realising the great contributions and dedication, S.K.N.Y.P.A took time out to acknowledge the hard work of St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services.

Members from both organizations were in attendance and were treated to an afternoon of entertainment, which included dance selections, poetry and song.

After a moment of light refreshments and socializing President of the association Ms. Jacqueline Bryan presented awards to those being honored.

During a brief speech, Ms Bryan highlighted the important role our men and women play in keeping us safe and applauded them for doing jobs most people tend to shy away from. She also urged that the good of the force ensure the bad of the force is removed, in order to preserve the integrity of both organizations.

The Commissioner of Police Mr. C. G. Walwyn and a representative from Fire Department both made statements alluding to the hard work that the men on women on their respective forces put in every day.

Also honored were The Ministry of Tourism, who was inducted as a Cooperate member of the association. Ms Chermaine Pemberton and Ms. Gabrielle Rubain were also inducted as Alumni at the event.

Past honorees include the St. Kitts Sea Turtle Monitoring network and the Corporate sponsors of S.K.N.Y.P.A.
