ZIZ News…March 21, 2012 — “Under the authority of His Excellency the Governor General of St Kitts and Nevis, Sir Cuthbert M. Sebastian and His Honour the Deputy Governor General Eustace John, the St Kitts Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF) and the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCPF) will perform the traditional military ceremony of Beating of the Retreat in Charlestown (in front of the Arthur Evelyn Tourism building formerly the old Treasury apron) on Sunday March 25, 2012 at 5 pm.

The Beating of the Retreat forms part of the programme of activities to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee”.

Meanwhile on Thursday March 29, British actors will join a selected group of local residents to re-enact the marriage of Lord Horatio Nelson and Frances “Fannie” Nesbit under the silk cotton tree on grounds at Montpelier Estate.

Other activities include 6-mile walks in communities across the island in May (Labor Day) and an official ceremony and Ecumenical Service in June.
