Cabinet thanks Janet Harris who heads for World Bank Alternate Governor post

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 8TH 2012 (CUOPM) -. The Cabinet of the Federal Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has expressed thanks to Financial Secretary, Mrs. Janet Harris for her dedication to the twin-island federation.

Mrs. Harris, the first female to that position, is to take up a post as an Alternate Governor at the Washington-based World Bank.

During last Friday’s Federal Cabinet Meeting at which the International Monetary Fund (IMF) gave an update on the successful outcome of the Fourth Stand-By Review Mission, Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Denzil L. Douglas, in his capacity as Chairman of the Cabinet, informed members that it was the last review that Mrs. Harris will be attending in her capacity as Financial Secretary.

Prime Minister Douglas on behalf of the Government thanked Mrs. Harris “for her dedicated service in steering the Ministry of Finance during these challenging times to successful meeting of the targets set by the IMF throughout the arrangements.”

Dr. Douglas wished Mrs. Harris, who has been involved in the debt restructuring exercise, a successful tour of duty and looked forward to her return “to share her experience and expertise that she will acquire at that high level of the World Bank.”

Hon. Members of the Cabinet and members of the Fund joined in wishing Mrs. Harris a successful tour of duty.
