Basseterre, St. Kitts (CUOPM) – A call has been made for the People’s Action Movement (PAM) Parliamentary Representative in St. Christopher 8, the Hon. Eugene Hamilton, to apologise and resign for remarks he made about the people of the sister island of Nevis at the PAM 49th Annual Convention.

“I must say how deeply disappointed I am with the derogatory statement made by Hon. Eugene Hamilton against the people of Nevis. The words are so repugnant that I refuse to repeat them,” said medical practitioner Dr. Terrance Drew in a statement.

Dr. Drew noted that the “repulsive statement is in keeping with a certain hateful pattern towards non-Kittitians. We recently heard Dr, Timothy Harris words against Cuba, his statement about bang water (to come to St. Kitts and Nevis,” his statement about the Chinese and now this highly offensive statement against the people of Nevis.”

“I call on Mr. Eugene Hamilton to apologize and resign forthwith. This statement is as repulsive as can be,” added Dr. Drew.

He used the opportunity to personally apologize on behalf of the people of Constituency 8 and assured the people of Nevis that this statement does not reflect “our collective sentiments towards our Nevisian brothers and sisters.”

“Be assured that very soon constituency # 8 would have good and responsible representation in Dr. Terrance Drew and the St. Kitts – Nevis Labour Party,” said Dr. Drew and Cuban and United States trained physician.
