Calypso Craig tops the list as Calypso finalists are chosen

ZIZ Newsroom, Basseterre, December 17, 2012 — The finalists of the National Calypso Monarch Competition have been announced.

Following the semi-finals last night at Warner Park, 8 calypsonians fought their way to the top, earning a right to dethrone King Konris at the finals.

According to the judges’ scores the competition was so tight that less that forty points separated the top and bottom of the pack. In some cases the positions were determined by one point.

Here’s the breakdown: In first place with 505 points was Calypso Craig, Singing Jackie took second with 490 points, Ace was in third place with 489 points, Rudder was close behind in fourth with 487 points, hot on his heels was King Godfrey with 486 points. In sixth place was Big Lice with 475 points and Lady Diva and I Soursop tied for seventh place with 467 points.

These calypsonians will face off against King Konris on Friday December 28th.
