Campbell steadies Jamaica after scare

JohnCampbell-1Kingston, Jamaica, CMC — Leeward Islands Hurricanes showed glimpses of what they are capable of but it was all a little too late, as Jamaica Franchise closed in on victory in their fourth round encounter of the WICB Professional Cricket League on Sunday.

At the close of the penultimate day at Sabina Park, Jamaica were 160 for four, requiring a mere 35 runs to win their third game of the new first class season.

However, the Leewards created some anxiety in the hosts’ camp, reducing them to 23 for three before opener John Campbell, who finished unbeaten on 63, helped revive the innings in two key partnerships.

He put on 72 for the fourth wicket with Captain Tamar Lambert who made a busy 45 from 43 balls, and then added a further 65 with seasoned all-rounder Dave Bernard Jr, who was unbeaten on 33 at the close.
