CARICOM SG to participate in launch of Antigua and Barbuda node of CARICOM Online Company Registration System

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) CARICOM Secretary General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque is scheduled to participate in the official launch of the Antigua and Barbuda node of the CARICOM Online System of Registration of Companies in St. Johns on Monday 5 September 2011.

The nodes in Antigua and Barbuda and St. Vincent and the Grenadines represent the first phase of a CARICOM project, being executed with the assistance of the 9th European Development Fund, Caribbean Integration Support Programme (CISP). This project when completed enables Registrars of Companies to access information on companies and other legal entities exercising the Right of Establishment in the CSME.

The project will also provide web interface to allow public access to the online system. The CARICOM Secretariat as the manager of the Project has facilitated the recruitment of an Information Technology Specialist and a Data Entry Operator within the office of the Registrar of Companies in Antigua and Barbuda.

This CARICOM Member State has also received assistance with database software for registering local companies. Senator Joanne Massiah; Mr. Charlesworth Tabor, Registrar of Companies (ag) and Secretary General LaRocque are expected to deliver remarks at the launch. Other officials from the CARICOM Secretariat including the Advisor Single Market and Sectoral Programmes, Ms. Desiree Field Ridley are expected to be at the launch.
