ZIZ Sports…May 16, 2012 — Outstanding Nevisian junior athlete, Carlon Tuckett participated in the Austin Sealy Classic over the last weekend at the National Stadium in Barbados. The meet involved eight of the most prominent track clubs in Barbados; eleven school teams and Sprint Tech out of Tortola in the BVI.

Carlon was involved in time trials, a new experience for him but placed first in the 80 m event with a personal best of 11.81 and first in the 150 m with another personal best time of 22.21 secs—more than a second on the field.

Carlon was specially invited to the meet by Manager of the Rising Stars Track Club Alwyn Bobb who was also Barbados’ Carifta Head Coach and also that island’s Head Coach for the 2012 Olympics.

After the event, the young sprinter was approached by some of the Bajan coaches to who wanted to know if he would run for that island. His prompt response was: ‘I was born in Barbados but I run for Nevis.’
