Carnival Committee Investigating Soca Song

(ZIZ News) — The National Carnival Committee has launched an investigation into the originality of one of the songs entered into this year’s Soca Monarch Competition.

The artiste, who has not been named by the Carnival committee, is one of the Soca Monarch semi-finalists.

A release issued on Saturday morning, states that the artiste has since been contacted by the Carnival committee and asked to provide proof that the song, submitted for CD eliminations, contains no violations related to copyright.

ZIZ News understands that the artiste was given 72 hours to provide the required details. The deadline is Sunday 29th November 2015 at 12:00 p.m.

The release went on to say that “the National Carnival Committee is committed to ensuring that the rules of the Soca Monarch and all other events are upheld”.
