CG Rebels into SKNFA Finals

Sports Page — It was an intense game from start to finish and the half time score of CG Rebels 26 and Rams’ Hitters 25, virtually tells the story.

For most of the deciding game, both teams were separated by a mere one point and kept the sizeable crowd literally on their feet.

The final five minutes of the game, were probably the most exciting and the CG Rebels’ players showed some semblance of nerves, as they failed to hit several crucial shots from the penalty spot.

Rams’ Hitters on the other hand, sunk a few similar gifts with some degree of style and the fat lady seemed to be entering the Grell Hull Stevens Netball Complex, when the Hitters tied the game and edged ahead.

However, the CG Rebels came roaring back to equalize and then take a much appreciated lead, as the vocal home crowd support took over.

Coach for the Hitters, James BARMAN Hanley was gracious in defeat:

“I think we lost the game in the final five minutes. We did not play to our strengths. I take the blame, because I guess I should have done something about it,” he said.

He however admitted that it was a tremendous game and wished the CG Rebels all the best in their big finals’ encounters.

The match was played on Saturday 25th October and was the game to decide the other finalist in the 2014 SKNFA Basketball league.

CG Rebels will now engage EXODUS in a best of five series which commences at Basketball City in St.Kitts, this coming Saturday night, 1st November.

During a post match interview, the CG Rebels players blamed fatigue for missing the crucial shots towards the end of the game but promised that they will bring back the championship trophy to Nevis.
