Cheese bandits to serve prison time

Bandits caught on camera at Valu Mart

ZIZ News…Feb 21 2012 — Both Resia Caines and Nail Dalton commonly referred to as the cheese bandits will have to serve four months in prison.

The sentence was handed down yesterday Tuesday February 21 by Her Worship Josephine Mallalieu at the Basseterre Magistrate’s Court.

According to a court source once again they both begged for leniency citing a number of reasons for going on a stealing spree at several supermarkets before being caught at Valu Mart.

The couple was charged with four counts of larceny which were committed on February 12, 2012.

Both Caines and Dalton will serve a total of 16 months – four months on each count which would run concurrently, thus only serving four months in prison.

On February 12, 2012, Caines and Dalton were seen on surveillance camera stealing at Valu Mart IGA Supermarket and were approached by a manager of the store.

The couple was being monitored on surveillance camera upon entering Valu Mart IGA Supermarket, apparently after being successful at stealing from other supermarkets.

A check on the surveillance cameras at the other supermarkets also confirmed that the bandits entered their establishment and stole a number of food items including cheese before leaving undetected.
