Chief Medical Officer brings Federation up to date on removal of children’s medicine

The Federation’s Chief Medical Officer has brought the public up to date on the news that certain children’s liquid medicines, manufactured in the US, were pulled off pharmacy shelves in Nevis.

Dr Patrick Martin stated that ensuring that effective precautionary measures have been taken regarding the removal of a number of products has been of major importance.

Dr Martin disclosed that at this moment in time there had been no reports of anyone being affected after taking any of the products. He stressed however, that it was ethically correct to simply remove the products off the shelves and to make the matter public.

Medical Officer of Health on Nevis Dr. Judy Nisbett has also publicly stated that the recall of these medical products is not due to any adverse reaction to these drugs but because they do not meet required quality standards of the manufacturers.
