Citizenship by Investment Programme secure

ZIZ News — Prime Minister the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas has re-emphasized the security of the Citizenship by Investment programme.

He told the media at a recent press conference that if there are persons who want to use the federation as an illegal back door to do business with the United States or European Union, they will not be allowed to be a part of the programme.

“A check into his background to ensure there is no criminal record of any applicant who would have become a citizen of St.Kitts and Nevis.  There is a check into where his money would have come from.  So again if he was on an economic sanction list, unlikely to get into our programme is what I’d describe the situation to be,” he said.

The Prime Minister said if a person is on any of watch list, criminal or otherwise, he or she would not get into the programme.

He said there are enhanced due diligence checks that are performed to ensure that every investor is credible.

“We’re not after anybody, anybody.  We are providing opportunities for investment to persons in St. Kitts and Nevis and having done the appropriate screening and they would have had the investment made.  We then invite them to become citizens.  It’s not automatic,” he said.

Prime Minister Douglas said St. Kitts and Nevis’ Citizenship by Investment programme is the most credible to date in the world and is the leading programme globally.
