Port of Spain, Trinidad (CMC) – Investigations are continuing into the discovery of cocaine found Wednesday aboard a vessel in Port of Spain bound for St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Customs and Excise officials reported that during a raid, approximately 13 kilograms of cocaine, valued at TT$5 million (One TT dollar=US$0.16 cents) was found aboard a vessel at Port of Spain.
The cocaine was found in cornflakes boxes, which were wrapped in a black material and hidden amid other cargo, including soft drinks and foodstuff.
Officials told reporters they received information that the cocaine was brought into the country from South America a few days ago and was scheduled to be sent to St Vincent before being shipped to a European destination.
