Commissioner Queeley: Social Media Must Be Used Responsibly

(ZIZ News) — Police Commissioner Ian Queeley Says “Social Media Must Be Used Responsibly”.

During his ‘Back To School’ address, aired on ZIZ television on Monday evening, he said education encourages us to communicate our thoughts but social media is a platform that comes with a great responsibility

“The use of social media is an indispensable part of our modern day living. However, again we say it must be used responsibly. Misinterpreted messages or those so hurtful, can often result in serious violence, murders and huge division in the society”, he said.

The Police Commissioner also reminded parents and adults about the consequences of using social media platforms irresponsibly.

He said, “Adults and leaders in St. Kitts and Nevis, please take note. We all have a huge moral and social responsibility to use social media responsibly. Before you press the button to send, consider the enormous risks and potential consequences of your messages to you, your family and friends and anyone who may as a result be offended, hurt or even worse”.

Police Commissioner of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Ian Queeley was formally appointed on February 9 2016.
