Dan Bartlette Memorial Stakes coming up

DanBartletteMemorialStakes-1Sports Page— President of the Nevis Turf and Jockey Club, Allister Thompson is encouraging the Horse racing fans on Nevis and indeed the entire general public to show up at the annual DAN BARTLETTE MEMORIAL STAKES meet which is scheduled for National Heroes’ Day on 16th September—a public holiday.

The meet which is held every year in honour of the significant contributions to the sport of Horse racing, by the late Dan Bartlette, is the signature event of the Nevis Turf and Jockey Club and comes with all of the necessary pomp and ceremony.

As part of the usual build up to the event, there will be the now annual press conference when all of the trophies at stake will be placed on show; the sponsors will be identified and make their representation and the Jockeys will have their usual exciting exchanges.

The local Horse racing Board is set to meet today Tuesday 2nd September in order to finalize the logistics of this year’s meet and determine the exact date for the press briefing.

Thompson noted that the Horses are in training; the Jockeys and owners are fully hyped and NEW VYBES BAND out of St. Kitts will be the house band for the day.

The cover charge is only $20.00 at the gate and the first race is set to bolt off at 3.00 pm sharp.
