Dare to Care deemed a success

Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 27, 2012 (SKNIS): The Dare to Care Programme was deemed a success during a recent handing over ceremony held at the Cardin Home on Sunday.

The first annual programme, developed by the St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service (SKNIS), drew the attention of the government workers and the general public.

The Director of SKNIS, Grell Browne, stated that this great response to the drive is what contributed to its success.

“We had an overwhelming response. The employees at government headquarters embraced the idea fully and signed up and sponsored one of the individuals whose wishes were on the Christmas tree that was displayed in front of Government Headquarters.”

At the ceremony the Honourable Marcella Liburd, Minister of Health, Social and Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs stated that drives like these for the Cardin Home are important as the country should be taking care of those who are least able to take care of themselves.

“We are very pleased to accept all these gifts on behalf of the residents and I know it will make their Christmas even brighter and make them happier to know that we do care for them. After all as a nation and a people that is where we know we are maturing when we are taking care of each other, we are still our brother’s keepers.”

The drive also caught the attention of Brown Hill Communications who during the ceremony handed over not only gifts for the residents but also a lawnmower.
