Digicel Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant launched; contestants revealed

ZIZ Newsroom, November 28, 2012, Basseterre — The 33rd annual Miss Digicel Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant has been officially launched.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Antonio Maynard, the pageant’s chair and executive producer, said the committee has selected the girls for this year’s production.
“After paying close attention to the various local competitions in the different Caribbean countries throughout the year and other important criteria we have confirmed eleven beautiful, intelligent, and talented young ladies representing their various countries from across the region,” he said.
The participating teens and their respective countries are as follows: MISS ANGUILLA — Dwayniqua Baird 16 yrs, MISS BAHAMAS — Jayme Pinde 16 yrs, MISS JAMAICA — Kabrena Robinson 17 yrs, MISS ST.KITTS — Junika Berry 16 yrs, MISS ST.LUCIA — Shartoya Jn Baptiste 17 yrs, MISS TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO — Clara Barker 17 yrs, MISS ST.CROIX — Aniah N. John 14 yrs, MISS NEVIS — Kevonie Pemberton 18 yrs, MISS BARBADOS — Zhané Padmore 18 yrs, MISS BVI — Kamyce Penn 18 yrs, and MISS GRENADA — Melissa DeAllie 16 yrs.

Contestant and activities coordinator, Akilah Byron-Nisbett said the committee was satisfied with their selection.
“We are very impressed with all of the contestants. The information that we have gotten from each of the contestants shows us that we are in for quite a treat,” she said.
Title sponsor Digicel was also at the launch donating $37, 000 in cash and prizes to the competition.
The reigning queen is Siobhan Phipps from St. Kitts.
The Digicel Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Competition takes place on Saturday December 29 at Carnival City. It will be broadcast live on https://tv.zizonline.com.
