Edna Manley College Trainee to Host Dance Workshop for Teens and Adults

Basseterre, St. Kitts–[August 9, 2013] — Eager to share her experience with other local dancers, recent trainee of the Edna Manley College of Visual and Performing Arts Summer Dance School, Khyla Brown will be hosting a one week dance workshop from Monday 12th August to Friday 16th August 2013.

The workshop which is dubbed ‘Caribbean Artistry’ will be held at the Victoria Road Community Center will cater to teens and adults at 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm respectively.

Khyla Brown, who said that after an intense, culturally filled four weeks of training in Jamaica in July of this year, she has decided to bring her experiences home in the form of a “spectacular and fun-filled workshop.”

“At the end of the workshop participants can expect to be more aware and knowledgeable of the existence and evolution of Caribbean and non Caribbean dance forms practiced in the Caribbean region and will be more adept in using their bodies in creative dance forms such as Caribbean and Belizean Folk dance and techniques, Modern dance and techniques and choreography.” She added

Khyla wishes to thank St. Kitts Investment Promotions Agency (SKIPA), Dwyer Astaphan, Ministry of Culture, Lennox Warner, Petro Caribe and Ms. Lorna Ava Henry who offered their support in financing and providing other assistance that contributed greatly to her training at the Edna Manley College of Visual and Performing Arts Summer Dance School 2013.
