Education Ministry launches online jobs board

Thwaites+AllenKINGSTON, Jamaica — Organisations wishing to employ individuals with trained-teacher qualification now have access to a database containing over 800 resumes, the Ministry of Education has reported

The web application at www.teachersjobmatch.gov.jm, has been established and serves as a gateway for educators to interact with potential employers, the Ministry said in a release Tuesday, June 24.

The web application serves as an advertising medium where employers can post job vacancies. It also facilitates on-line communication between recruiting organisations and job seekers. The Ministry recently posted vacancies for 59 English language teachers in China and received 231 applications through the online jobs board, the Ministry added.

“This is an interactive tool that allows recruiters to communicate with jobseekers online to effectively fill open positions by recruiting the best matching candidates on the jobs board,” explained Permanent Secretary Elaine Foster-Allen.

The Ministry of Education is now inviting organisations from all sectors of the economy to post vacancies requiring individuals with trained-teacher certification on www.teachersjobmatch.gov.jm.

The Ministry is also inviting trained teachers to register on the jobs board and to post their resumes “so that potential employers can review them and make contact”.
