Events for visit of Royal Couple announced

Their Royal Highnesses Princes Edward and Countess Sophie

BASSETERRE,ST. KITTS, FEBRUARY 14H 2012 (CUOPM) – Greeting the public, naming of the National Park, visits to Brimstone Hill, the Children’s Home, the Children’s Ward at the Joseph N.France General Hospital and Government House, and a State Dinner are the major events to be undertaken by the Earl and Countess of Wessex, during the Royal Visit to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis early next month.

The stop in St. Kitts and Nevis on March 3rd by Their Royal Highnesses Princes Edward and Countess Sophie is part of a Caribbean tour to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Government House has announced that Prince and the Countess Princess will disembark at Port Zante and will be greeted by His Excellency the Governor General, Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian, who will introduce the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.

Prime Minister Douglas will then introduce his Federal Cabinet as well as the Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry, who will introduce members of his Nevis Island Administration.

Following the inspection of a Guard of Honour, Their Royal Highnesses will meet and greet members of the public at Port Zante.

From there, the Royal Couple will go to the site of the National Park on the Kim Collins Highway, where they will be welcomed by Prime Minister Douglas.

The Prince will respond following remarks by Prime Minister Douglas and Mr. Cromwell Williams.

During the visit to Brimstone Hill, Prince Edward and Countess Sophie will unveil a plaque. Former Governor of St. Kitts and Nevis, Sir Probyn Inniss will present a copy of a book and print of the Brimstone Hill Fortress.

Afterwards the Royal Party will travel to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where the Prince Edward and Countess Sophie will visit the Children’s Ward, the Children’s Home and then Government House before returning to the ship.

The Royal Couple will leave the ship early that evening to be hosted at a State Dinner by His Excellency the Governor General.

A fireworks display will end the Royal duties when the Prince and Princes return to the ship at Port Zante.

The Royal couple will also visit Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, as well as Gibraltar.
