Executives and Administrative Professionals celebrate Administrative Professionals Week with dinner and awards

ZIZ News…April 24, 2010 – Executives and their Administrative Officers celebrated in style on Wednesday, 21 April 2010 at a business dinner held in observance of Administrative Professionals Week 2010 at the Ocean Terrace Inn. The dinner was graced with the presence of the Prime Minister, Dr the Honourable Denzil Douglas and Minister of Education and Information Technology, the Honourable Nigel Carty who was also the keynote speaker for the event.

In his engaging address, Minister Carty spoke to the theme for the week – “Surviving the Challenges” – when he said, “I am not in the least oblivious to the fact that you confront many challenges, many intractable; but being the dedicated, trained, positive-minded workers – professionals – that you are, you devise, design and deploy means by which to survive those challenges.” He further pointed out that while challenges were nature’s way of developing character, the greater the challenges, the greater the victories would be.

NAAP President, P Cyndie Demming, delivered inspiring remarks and Executive of the Year 2009, Mr Desmond Lewis of Surrey Paving and Aggregate sent greetings to the gathering which were delivered by his Assistant and Consultant to NAAP, Ms Lois Harris.

The celebratory event also saw the recognition of members of NAAP, with the NAAP Member of the Year Award going to NAAP Vice President/Liaison Officer for the Caribbean Association of Administrative Professionals Acklyn Blaize, and the President’s Award for Professional and Academic Achievement being shared by Assistant Secretary Diana Prentice and Vice President Acklyn Blaize. The Member of the Year Award was sponsored by the Executive of the Year 2009, Mr Desmond Lewis, and the President’s Award was jointly sponsored by the Honourable Attorney General, Patrice Nisbett and NAAP President.

The dinner guests were delighted with many door prizes and the envy of the night was Ms Janesta Clarke who won a Nokia E66 handset compliments Digicel. Door prizes and gifts for the evening were provided compliments NAAP Consultant Lois Harris, Sharky’s on Port Zante, OTI and Ashburry’s. By all accounts, the Association’s dinner was a resounding success.

“To date every event has been successful, thanks to a hard working team”, stated President Demming. She continued that “the Association is made up of a diverse team of women, from various countries of the Caribbean and they are pushers, shakers, proofreaders, ushers, organizers, work-horses, sellers and beggars – all working, collaborating to ensure that AP Week 2010 is a grand success and that the Association grows and moves forward.”
