Four cruise ships with over 8,000 passengers visit St. Kitts on Monday

Basseterre, St. Kitts (CUOPM) — Four cruise ships with over 8,000 passengers were in the Port of Basseterre Monday.

The Celebrity Summit with 2,164 passengers and a crew of 945 docked at the commercial pier at Bird Rock after arriving from St. Croix. It goes on to Dominica.

The Jewel of the Seas with 2,041 passengers and 852 crew arrived from St. Croix and docked at Port Zante and will depart for St. Maarten.

Also at Port Zante was the third largest cruise ship in the world, the Quantum of the Seas, which arrived from Barbados with 3,763 passengers and a crew of 1,626 and will leave for New Jersey.

The fourth ship, the Insgnia with 649 passengers and a crew of 396 arrived from Puerto Rico and goes on to Grenada.

Most of the 8,617 passengers came ashore and went and went on tours of St. Kitts via taxis, the St. Kits Scenic Railway and helicopter.

Some headed for the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, Romney Manor and Batik, sea and sun bathing on the beaches, walked around beautiful Basseterre, hiking to Mount Liamigua and to other trails, snorkeling, sailing to Nevis, horseback riding, golfing, casino gambling, shopping and biking while others took time to surf the internet and make contact with friends and family.
