Government to take robust stance on Foreign Policy

Hon. Mark Brantley

(ZIZ News) — One month after Team Unity won the federal elections, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Mark Brantley said the new administration intends to take a robust approach to foreign policy.

Minister Brantley described St. Kitts and Nevis AS being at a unique and somewhat difficult time in its diplomatic relations with certain countries but added that this renewed approach will start the process of restoring the trust of the global community in the federation.

He said, “It comes at a particularly unique and difficult time for St. Kitts and Nevis because I don’t think it’s a secret that we’ve had some issues with some of our very powerful neighbours and who have been traditional friends and allies. But we’ve had as neighbours would from time to time some degree of unease and difficulty. That we are now being forced to deal with and so you will find in the coming days and weeks and months that we will have far more robust approach to Foreign Policy; that St. Kitts and Nevis would have a far more expansionist role and attitude both regionally and internationally.”

Minister Brantley said that through the establishment of both multilateral and bilateral relationships with other nations, the government hopes to bring tangible benefits to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
