Governor General appoints a new Supervisor of Elections

ZIZ News…Oct 3, 2012 — A new Supervisor of Elections has been chosen to oversee electoral matters in St.Kitts and Nevis.

The release came from the Office of the Governor General of St. Christopher and Nevis His Excellency Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian.

The release stated, “It is notified for general information that His Excellency the Governor-General, after consultation with the Right Honourable Prime Minister, the Honourable Premier and the Honourable Leader of the Opposition has in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 34(2) of the Constitution of St. Christopher and Nevis, appointed Mr. Raphael A. Archibald, MBE to exercise the functions of the office of Supervisor of Elections with effect from 2nd October, 2012.

Mr. Raphael Archibald who has given Public Service for many years will take over from the Mr. Leroy Benjamin who resigned the position following a court case in Nevis.

It is expected that Mr. Archibald’s first order of business as the new Supervisor of Elections will be putting the election machinery in place for the upcoming polls to be held in Nevis within ninety days.
