Grammy Award-Winning Artists Join 2014 St. Kitts Music Festival Lineup

Basseterre: Grammy award-winning artists Deniece Williams and Bill Champlin, along with legendary performers Bobby Kimball and Paul Peress, will be performing at the 18th annual St Kitts Music Festival, Thursday, June 26 to Saturday, June 28, 2014.

Deniece Williams is an American Grammy Award-winning artist known for hits such as “Free”, “Silly,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” “It’s Gonna Take a Miracle,” and for duets with Johnny Mathis.

Bill Champlin is a former lead singer of Chicago, and has won multiple Grammy Awards for songwriting. Chicago produced hits such as “Will You Still Love Me” and “Hard To Say I Am Sorry.” Champlin co-wrote “After the Love is Gone” performed by Earth Wind and Fire, and “Turn Your Love Around” performed by George Benson.

Bobby Kimball is the former lead singer for Toto, celebrated for “Rosanna,” “Hold the Line,” “Africa” and “Gorgy Porgy.”

The three legendary acts will have vocal back-up by the Paul Peress Project, which a couple years ago produced “Sugar City,” a tribute to the people of St. Kitts. Peress is an acclaimed musician, who has worked with for B-52’s, Brenda Russell, Regina Belle, Tom Scott, Guy Davis, Jimmy Heath and Candido.

Denise Williams, Bill Champlain, Bobby Kimball and the Paul Peress Project now join Tessanne Chin, Beenie Man and Chronixx, on stage at the 2014 St. Kitts Music Festival.

Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Senator Ricky Skerritt, said he is looking forward in welcoming the world renowned artists to St. Kitts.

“We are proud to have such celebrated artists join one of the most dynamic lineups for this year’s St. Kitts Music Festival,” Senator Skerritt said. “Our goal is to set high standards of excellence and to be innovative in our planning, as we seek to improve the enjoyment and overall Festival experience for locals and visitors alike.”

The St. Kitts Music Festival features a wide range of musical styles on the popular market, including R&B, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Soca, Calypso, Gospel and Contemporary music. Past artists have included such prominent acts as John Legend, Lionel Richie, T-Pain, Michael Bolton, K.C. and the Sunshine Band.
