Groundbreaking for Heldons Estate Hotel and Residence

(ZIZ News) — A groundbreaking ceremony for the US$40 million Helden’s Estate Condo Resort & Residences took place earlier on Tuesday.

The ceremony signalled the beginning of construction of over 200 condos, apartments and villas at White Gate.

Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, in his remarks, spoke of the benefits the multi-million dollar project will bring to the country.

“The benefits will be immediate, involving the skills and expertise of our engineers, our builders and others in related fields,” he said. “There will of course be benefits in the medium term as well involving the skills and expertise of those who are involved in the intermediate phases of projects such as this. The local suppliers of goods for example, local providers of services, small businesses that will service the construction sites and so on.”

Echoing the sentiments of Prime Minister Douglas, Ambassador Wendell Lawrence said people of the federation must take advantage of foreign investment.

“A hotel of this nature is not an enterprise; it is a conglomeration of small enterprises so that when this hotel is completed there will be opportunities for barbershops, for transportation, for a whole range of services. For us to take full advantage of foreign investment, we have to identify them early and empower our people to take advantage of them not only as employees but also as entrepreneurs,” Ambassador Lawrence stated.

Consistent with the government’s vision for development in the White Gate area, the completed multi-million dollar project will contain several amenities including restaurants and bars, tennis courts and swimming pools.

Hundreds of residents will also benefit through the employment opportunities Heldens Estate Condo Resort & Residences will create.
