ZIZ News…Jan 27 2012 – Deputy Headmaster at the Gingerland Secondary School. Mr. Shefton Liburd on Thursday indicated that preparations are well on the way for the upcoming annual sports meet for the school slated for February 28th. “The houses are already having meetings and they are already getting ‘pepped’ up. We have already had the orientation walk for the cross country events which is used to synthesize the new students as to the proper course for their particular race,’ he said.

He noted that the heats exercises for the long jump and high jump will commence on Monday 30th. January and further indicated that the early annual sports meet of February 28th is part of the plan to get a team selected for the inter High school championship in St. Kitts, so that they can commence early training as a team. This he believes will positively impact their overall performance this year.

The exciting cross country events will be held on one day—February 16th with both juniors and seniors in both sexes having their runs starting at about 9 am and concluding during the afternoon.

The much anticipated Teachers’ Cross country race, which attracted quite some attention, last year, is slated for February 16th. Headmistress Dawn Jeffers is expected to be at the starting line.
