Inspection at Power Station could lead to load shedding

ZIZ Newsroom…July 29, 2010 – An inspection of a generator at the power station may lead to four weeks of load shedding beginning next week.

According to Kevin Bennett, superintendant for generation at the electricity department, they will be inspecting the generating set this weekend.

Bennett said while the generators are being repaired, the power station will not be running at full capacity, so a period of load shedding will begin.

For the four-week period, the load shedding is expected to last for up to four hours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The electricity department should is expecting at least two engines by October and two new generators by February.
