Island Purified Water given the “all clear”

(PRESS RELEASE) – The St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards in an update to its Public Advisory sent on July 23, 2016 wishes to inform the general public that corrective measures were swiftly taken at the Island Purified Water production plant at the Newton Ground Location.

The corrective measures included, among other things, halting production and disinfecting bottling lines and tanks.

Following the conclusion of these measures, the St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards conducted a series of testing and analysis to determine and establish the sanitary quality of the water produced for bottling. After several rounds of analyses, the Island Purified Water samples have passed all the necessary tests for compliance to the required sanitary quality of the water produced for bottling.

In this regard, the approved test results have been shared with the Department of Environmental Health, who have advised Island Purified Water that commercial production of bottled water can resume at their plant with distribution activities to follow thereafter.

The St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards, in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Health and the Department of Consumer Affairs , continues its mandate of protecting the environment, health and safety of consumers through routine testing of cooked/processed foods, municipal and bottled water, indoor air quality and more.

The St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards and the Ministry of Health thank the general public for their patience and cooperation during this recall period.
