J and J Medical Services 5th free pap smear screening

Representatives of various agencies meet to plan the health fair.

CHARLESTON, July 17, 2012 — To strengthen efforts being made at the health centres to offer women free pap smears, J and J Medical Services in collaboration with the Nevis Maternal Health Fund, Health Promotion Unit, Voices of Women, Pink Lily, Renal Society, Social Services, and F.I.T Wellness Centre will host the 5th free pap smear screening on 21st July from 8.30 a.m to 1.00 p.m at the J and J Medical Services located on top of Happy Hill on Marion Avenue.

A targeted population will benefit from the free screening. The pap smear screening will be held alongside a health fair mounted by the collaborating agencies. Activities at the fair will include informative sessions about cervical cancer, breast cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, and renal failure.

Since its inception in 2003, J and J Medical Services holds pap smear screening clinics several times each year in an effort to strengthen the already established educational and screening programs run by the Nevis Ministry of Health.
