Janet Harris to become Executive Director for Canada, Ireland and the Caribbean at World Bank

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 17TH 2012 (CUOPM) – The appointment of outgoing Financial Secretary, Mrs. Janet Harris, to a position within the World Bank in Washington, D.C., is not only “a special opportunity for her” but is also a “great reflection on our country.”

So said the Federation’s Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, who commended her for the extraordinary service that has been provided to St. Kitts and Nevis and the Caribbean.

Mrs. Harris takes up a position as Executive Director at the World Bank with responsibility for Canada, Ireland and the Caribbean from October 1st.

“I know that everyone joins me in wishing her the very best. I, for one, want to thank her personally and publicly, for the extraordinary contributions she has made to our country, to the Ministry of Finance, which I am honoured to lead, and to extend heartfelt congratulations to her this very special moment in her career,” said Prime Minister Douglas during his weekly radio programme “Ask the Prime Minister” on Tuesday.
