Japan PM to visit Trinidad this month

ShinzoAbe-1PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan will visit Trinidad on July 27 and 28 as part of a Latin American tour for talks with regional leaders.

Abe will meet 14 regional heads in Trinidad to discuss ways to promote economic cooperation between Japan and the region.

Chief of Japan’s Cabinet, Secretary Yoshihide Suga announced that the Prime Minister will embark on an 11 day tour from July 25 during which he will visit Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, Colombia, Chile and Brazil.

The Japanese Prime Minister is expected to deliver a speech on Japan’s Latin American policy in Brazil.

Abe’s visit is geared towards strengthening relations with each country in the region, says Suga.

Trinidad and Tobago and Japan are celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations.
