JLPS and IWP Secure Wins In Primary School League

Sports Page—Friday 5th July 2013–The Joycelyn Liburd Primary School would have made at least one individual proud on Thursday. This as they sported their spanking brand new uniforms—The KP 23 brand, the signature gift recently donated to them by West Indies opener, Kieran Powell.

Powell himself broke his training schedule to have a look at the youngsters but did not stay around long enough to see them complete victory against St. Thomas’ Primary.

St. Thomas’ Primary batted first and scored 60 for 4 in their allotted 10 overs. The JLPS team was in dire straits on 26 for 5 with one of the St. Thomas’ bowlers on a hat trick which was eventually averted.

However, an accomplished looking Jelani Manners led his team to victory, savagely swinging a full toss through midwicket for a boundary.

The young left hander even showed glimpses of a younger Kieran Powell in his strokeplay.

Meanwhile, the Ivor Walters School shocked the Elizabeth Pemberton Primary into submission. Ivor Walters batted first and scored 67 from their allotted 10 overs and the EPPS team fell short getting to 60 for 3 from their 10 overs.
