Joint Champions for Second Divison Announced

SPORTS PAGE—Monday 24th June 2013–Cricket chief on Nevis, Keith Scarborough, announced on Friday 21st June that the rained out second division finals between Empire and Highlights, will not be replayed.

He stated that he has already alerted both teams that they have been designated as joint champions for 2013 and that the winnings and trophy will be shared between the two teams.

Scarborough pointed to the many postponements of the lead up matches due to inclement weather and other reasons and noted that the concentration of his Association now will be towards the preparation of the Nevis senior team for the upcoming LICA tournament.

The grand finals was disappointingly rained out after the game was well poised for an exciting finish with only Empire able to complete their innings, before the down pour came.

Meanwhile, the final trial match towards the selection of the Nevis senior team was played at the ET Willet Park on Sunday 23rd June.

Only 16 players showed up for the simulation exercise. Some of the main performers were:

Adelvin Phillip 23; Justin Athanaze 23; Dymon Parris 19; Dennison Browne 19; Colin Archibald 30

Wickets: Chavez Archibald 3; Jason Campbell 2; Hakeem Harvey 2; Adelvin Phillip 1; Clydre Smithen 1 and Tevin Nisbett 1.

The selectors convened immediately after the match and it is understood that the final squad will be released at short notice.
