Junior Achievement Student Entrepreneurs showcased products and services at JA Trade Fair 2013

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MAY 2nd 2013 – Independence Square buzzed with excitement on Friday April 26, 2013 whilst six secondary schools within the Federation participated in the Annual Junior Achievement Trade Fair. The student companies represented the Basseterre High School, Cayon High School, Charles E Mills Secondary School, Gingerland Secondary School, Saddlers Secondary School and the Washington Archibald High School. They showcased products which attracted a high volume of visitors and patrons. The uniqueness and quality of the products were results of hard work and the talents which the students possess combined with their willingness and positive attitudes.
Representatives from the Ministry of Education, banking institutions, public and private sectors, were in attendance at the Opening Ceremony. Mr David Lake, President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce made opening remarks followed by Ms Ladesa James, Country Manager of the CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank and Mr Curtis Martin, representative of the St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla National Bank Ltd both Platinum Sponsors. The Ceremony was declared open by Senior Education Officer Mr Michael Blake, who, suggested that the JA Company Program supports the secondary schools’ curriculum and endorsed the idea that this Program should be a curricula item for the Secondary Schools.
