Junior Achievers Trade Fair

ZIZ News…29th April, 2013 — Some teenagers got a chance to show off their creative sides as well as make some money during a trade fair at The Square on Friday 26th April, 2013.

It’s the last part of an ongoing business idea competition.

Six schools set up stalls in The Square all competing for the public’s attention at the Junior Achievers Trade Fair.

This is the final leg of a six month competition where students create a business and market their products for sale.

Nicole Hudson, a teacher at the Basseterre High School says this also would teach the students to be self sufficient.

The students’ businesses range from affordable clothing to an arts themed business that used craft to reinvent existing products.

Another booth used recycled materials to make unique products for the home.

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank is responsible for hosting this trade fair. During the event, the booths are judged on several criteria including sales. At the end of it all the performances of the teams are analyzed and an overall winner will be chosen.
