King Astro Confident of Culturama Victory

OscarBrowne-1(ZIZ News) – The Federation’s reigning Carnival Calypso King, Oscar “Astro” Browne, who resides on Nevis, is confident that he will capture this year’s Culturama Senior Calypso Monarch title.

This week, ZIZ News caught up with Browne and asked about his preparations for Culturama 31. Browne said he has to maintain the high standard set during Carnival in December.

He said, “I am already in the studio, almost complete one of my tracks for Culturama. I am taking Culturama very, very serious because I want to have the choice going into Anguilla who should I represent: St. Kitts or Nevis. So I want to be the one to make that decision to decide who go from where so I’m going to give it a big shot.”

“It’s really pressure filled because the Federation crown is touted higher than the local crown in Nevis and I really have to maintain the standard that I set so, the pressure is on but I have learned to cope with the pressure over the years and I’m very focused. I have a job to do. I’m going to win Culturama,” the calypsonian added.

Browne is currently in St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands where he is expected to perform during the V.I. Calypso Competition and International Explosion, on Saturday, at the Lionel Roberts Stadium.
