Launch of calypso tents attracts huge crowd

ZIZ News…Nov 7 2011 – The double launch of both the Grand Masters (Proud Sounds) and Legends calypso tents ushered in the calypso season as we celebrate Sugar Mas’ 40:40 2k 11/12.

A crowd of close to two thousand persons gathered at Fat Tuesdays on Port Zante to witness some of the top calypsonians in action from both calypso tents.

Among those on show were Ayatollah, Anastasia, Big Lice, Socrates, Godfrey, I Soursop, Nutsy and a host of other calypsonians.

Carnival Minister the Hon Marcella Liburd, Shannon Hawley the Carnival Chairperson and Sylvester Anthony, Chair of the Calypso Sub-Committee were all engaged with the crowd during brief intervals.

This has now set the stage for a series of other Tents scheduled for various venues across the island over the coming weeks leading up to Carnival.

The launch of the Calypso Tents was streamed on ZIZOnline.com and was seen on the big screen at Pas Bar on the Nevis waterfront and for Nationals and Calypso fans here in St Kitts Nevis and in the diaspora.
