Local Tape Ball Tournament Finalized

CricketFilePhotoC(Sports Page) At a meeting held at the ET Willet park on Wednesday 5th November, matters pertaining to the upcoming tape ball league to be hosted by the Ministry of Sports and the Sports Department, were finalized.

The tournament will be sponsored by the Development Bank of St.Kitts and Nevis to the tune of $5,000.00

It was pointed out at the meeting that although teams will not be required to pay a registration fee for this particular league, all of the sponsorship monies will be shared between the top teams and individual performers as follows:

Winning team female– $1000 .00
Second placed team male–$500.00
Second placed team female-$500.00
Third placed team male–$300.00
Third placed team female-$300.00
MVP male–$500.00
MVP female–$500.00
Batter with most runs male–$100.00
Batter with most runs female–$100.00
Bowler with most wickets male–$100.00
Bowler with most wickets female–$100.00

There will also be trophies provided for the winning teams in the knockout and the actual league.

A number of teams have already registered for the tournament which bowls off on Thursday 28th November with a brief opening ceremony and a one over per side knock out tournament between participating male and female teams, using the rules guiding the use of the super over in international cricket.

Teams represented at the meeting were given copies of the rules that will guide the tournament. Listed among the guidelines for the tournament are the following:
Games will be of 12 overs per team duration
The LBW rule and leg byes will not be included

Matches will be played on Wednesdays; Thursdays and Fridays starting at 5.30 pm.

All teams are kindly asked to get in contact with the Sports Department located at the Reliable Motors Complex to verify participation and to provide correct team names by Friday 15th November. The fixtures will be compiled after that date
