Locals trained for managerial positions at Four Seasons becomes a reality

Charlestown, Nevis (Wednesday, November 14, 2012) — Four Seasons Resort Nevis has again honoured the wishes of the Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry, as eight (8) junior managers were trained in the STEPS program, and graduated in preparation for senior management positions.

On the Premier’s weekly radio program, ‘In touch with the Premier’, the Hon. Joseph Parry, who has fought valiantly to improve the lot of Nevisian workers at the flagship hotel, said that he has been calling for Four Seasons Resort to train Nevisian workers to be managers at the 5- star property.

“I know that Nevisians can be managers in any capacity at the Four Seasons Resort if they are trained properly, and this is what must be done, so that locals can be managers,” said the Premier.

During the graduation ceremony, the resorts General Manager, Mr. Andrew Humphries, told the graduates that it was very necessary to become prepared to take on the task of manager.

The (10) ten-week training program which commenced from August- October 2012 was made up of 10 modules and encompassed the topics- the Four Seasons Leader, Key Communication Skills; Coaching and Feedback; Conflict Management; Problem Solving;Change Management and Delivering Confident Messages.

Mr. Chad James, Learning Manager- responsible for training at all levels of employees, said that training is important and will continue as a policy of the resort.

“The program will make for a better manager/employees relationship, thereby enhancing the resort,” commented Mr. James.

The very extensive program which lasts 10 weeks has been well received, and a second training session with a new group, is presently planned for January 2013.
