Lodge upset by Tabernacle in Constituency #7 Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League

(PLP PR Media Inc.) — Former title holders in the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition, Lodge Domino Club, last week on Thursday August 24 improved the chances of reclaiming the title by upsetting the defending champions Unity Domino Club.

Following their travel to Tabernacle Village on Tuesday August 29, their joy appears to have been short lived. They faced the home team Tabernacle Domino Club at T-Vils Bar.

The home boys under Captain Jason ‘Spoon’ Nisbett caused the biggest upset since the 22nd edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition opened on August 10.

Lodge went to Tabernacle as the only team on a clean slate having won all their previous games. They showed what they are worth and indeed were on to their sixth victory as they led Tabernacle 12-8 needing only one point to win.

But as it is said, they saw red when Jason ‘Spoon’ Nisbett put his foot down and without losing a point the team overtook the determined contenders for the championship this year, and Tabernacle carried the day with a narrow but well deserved win, 13-12.

In other games played on Tuesday night, Saddlers beat Molineux 13-5 at Shanty Bar in Saddlers; in a close game Beers beat Giants 13-11 in one of the two games held at Bernette Bar in Hidden Alley Lodge Village; while Sylvers beat Unstoppable 13-7 at Tacky Bar in Hidden Alley Lodge Village.

Defending champions Unity beat Parsons 13-9 in a game played at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project; in the other game at Bernette Bar in Hidden Alley Lodge Village Upsetters thrashed Guinness 13-4; and Christchurch beat Small Corner 13-9 in a game at the Domino House in Mansion.

After the sixth round stage held on Tuesday August 29, Unity and Lodge jointly lead with five wins and one loss each. They are closely followed by Beers and Saddlers who have four wins and one loss each, but with a game against each other still pending.

With three wins and three losses each are Upsetters, Sylvers, Tabernacle, and Molineux. Teams with two wins and four losses each are Giants, Guinness, Parsons, Unstoppable, and Christchurch. Languishing at the bottom is Small Corner with only one win and five losses.

Games continue on Thursday August 31 at the following venues: Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project, two games at Tacky Bar in Hidden Alley Lodge Village, Shanty Bar in Saddlers, Domino House in Mansion, Small Corner Bar at Lemon Hill in Lodge Village, and in Parsons.
