Man charged for newborn’s death to appear before court

(ZIZ News) — A man charged for the death of a newborn baby in St. Peters in 2014 will appear before the court on October 3.

Prince Yahweh Henry of Stapleton village was arrested and charged for manslaughter and was granted bail in the sum of $100,000.00.

According to a police statement he is expected to report daily to the St. Peter’s Police Station, surrender travel documents to the Court, observe a curfew during the hours of 8pm to 6am and not use marijuana and any other controlled drugs.

In November of 2014 Henry reportedly took the child from the home and did not return.

Police searched Bayford’s Mountain and the surrounding areas before locating Henry, however he did not have the child.

Henry admitted to leaving the child in the hills and took the police to the location. Remains of an infant believed to be the missing child, were found at the scene.

Earlier, then Commissioner Walwyn said at the time he went missing Henry was suffering an episode and that may have been a factor in why he walked off with the baby.

In other police news, bus driver Terrance Somersall of Sandy Point who was charged for causing death by careless driving was granted bail in the sum of $20,000 E.C.

He is expected to appear before the Dieppe Bay Magistrate Court on Monday, 3rd October.
