Sports Page — The Maude Smith Pre School is all set to jumpstart the 2015 athletic season on Friday 30th January, when it will host its annual Sports meet.
The meet will commence at 1pm at the school’s ground in Bath Village, under the patronage of past student, Laneisa Thomas.
Headmistress of the institution, Teacher Myers explained that the emphasis as guided by the Education is on developing the coordinating skills of the children, rather than on competition.
There is also quite some emphasis placed on teaching the children to be team players.
Therefore, many of the races will be done with the students assisting each other in their various house teams.
Some of the races include, TOSS the BEANS; filling the bottle; spoon and block and the very innovative and highly creative THREE BLIND MICE.
The parents will also be able to pit their skills against each other in the traditional parents’ races.
When asked about the early date for the sports meet, Teacher Myers recalled an incident last year when her sports meet clashed with that of another school and she had to postpone her meet in an effort to ensure that clash was avoided.
“I knew that no other school would be ready in January but Maude Smith always ready,’ she said.
The general public is cordially invited to witness the grand event.
