Minister Carty could soon be discharged from Miami hospital

Sen. the Hon. Nigel Carty

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 5TH 2011 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Minister of Education and Information, Sen. the Hon. Nigel Carty could soon be discharged from a Miami Hospital, says Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas on Tuesday.

“We spoke with him. He called and when someone calls you it means he or she is coming around quite fine,” said Prime Minister Douglas in response to a caller during his weekly radio programme “Ask the Prime Minister.”

The Minister of Education and Information underwent emergency Surgery at a Miami Hospital two weeks ago for an undisclosed illness.

“I suspect that he would be out of the hospital very shortly and we will continue to give updates to the country as soon as they come to hand.

Right now he is progressing quite smoothly. As I said very shortly he May not necessarily be confined to the hospital and if there is any after care, that would be done appropriately from a home situation,” said Dr. Douglas, who thanked the caller for asking about Minister Carty.

During Mr. Carty’s absence, Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, Hon. Patrice Nisbett, is Acting Minister of Education and Information.
