Minister Condor Salutes Service of Superintendant Seabrookes

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 06, 2010 (SKNIS): Superintendant of Police Samuel Seabrookes is transitioning from securing the streets of St. Kitts and Nevis to boosting the Federation’s food security.
Superintendant Seabrookes recently informed that he was ending his sterling 35-year career with the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force to take up farming full time. His service officially ends on December 31, 2010.
At a meeting of senior police officials on Thursday (August 05), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister responsible for National Security Honourable Sam Condor said he had mixed feelings, as he reflected on the retirement of the long serving law enforcer who rose through the ranks and became the Head of the Nevis Division.
“Retirement is a good thing,” he said, noting that it usually comes with a distinction in service. “… and so I’m pleased to give Superintendant Seabrookes a good send off.
“But I’m also sad that he’s leaving. Sad in the sense that [he] is one of the model policemen who have served his country well and his qualities need to be emulated by our younger officers,” Minister Condor stressed.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed “sincere gratitude” to the police superintendant on behalf of the government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Minister Condor remarked that times have changed dramatically since 1975 when then Constable Seabrookes was assigned to beat and patrol. He explained that ongoing reforms to the police strategy are being made to address current challenges.
“I am committed to making a difference in getting our country to a state where we enjoy peace and security and people are living in positive circumstances and conditions,” he emphasized.
Superintendant Seabrookes thanked Minister Condor, the Government and members of the Police High Command for their support over the years and explained that he was looking forward to the next stage of his life.
